BookBeez Hive Code of Conduct
BookBeez is a Mastodon Instance for authors to come together with friends and readers in one accessible, all genre inclusive, and welcoming community.
The BookBeez Hive is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone; therefore, we will not tolerate harassment of participants in any form, regardless of gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
Some books may be political, but this is NOT the place for political debates!
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If someone asks you to leave them alone, leave them alone.
The following behaviors are not welcome anywhere in the BookBeez Hive: offensive comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion.
Participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules.
Harassment and unacceptable behavior includes:
The following behavior is not allowed on the public timeline:
The admins may ban or silence users whom we know to be social media harassers or abusers, even if they have not violated the rules of this Instance. The mere presence of a harasser can make past or potential victims uncomfortable, and it can put potential victims who are unaware of the person's history in particular danger. Users are encouraged to individually mute, block, and/or report accounts they don't want to see, but at our discretion, we may take the additional step of blocking or silencing someone Instance-wide if we believe they endanger the safe and welcoming space we're trying to maintain.
The current admins are:
Pletcha PJ Webb
If necessary, we will invite others to participate as admins.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the admins. They'll respond as promptly as they can.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative prior consent.
Participants asked to stop any harassing or inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the admins may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the BookBeez Hive and identifying the participant publicly as someone about whom we've received complaints.
If a post breaks any law, or refers to a law being broken, it will be sent to the proper authorities and the poster immediately expelled.
Codes of Conduct are subject to change. We retain the right to refuse or terminate users at any time without prior warning and/or explanation.
